Improved Data Exchange with Airlines
Meerbusch, Germany – A new automatic arrival status application from Riege Software International improves documentation of the transport chain for air freight forwarders. The application extension is integrated into the Global Connect software solution. Global Connect receives status updates and documents from airlines and forwarders, converts them into desired formats and exchanges these messages between partners through a Cargo Community System (CCS). Details of a shipment’s arrival at its destination airport have not always been available to the forwarding agent because only a few airlines provide the designated “arrival status” (ARR). Forwarding agents and their customers will benefit from the new automatic arrival status generated by Global Connect which enables specific tracking of a shipment.
The latest release of Global Connect software includes detailed information about arrival and status of a shipment making processes within the air freight industry more effective and transparent. Airlines provide forwarders with status reports for every shipment through “Cargo Interchange Message Procedures” (Cargo IMP): the exact time of receipt, departure, arrival, discharge and ready for pick-up. Often forwarders lack the exact arrival time data at the destination because this information is generally not provided by the airline. Riege Software International now bridges this gap by analyzing additional information from other status messages contained in the airline’s Cargo IMP messages. After analyzing the data the software creates an artificial “arrival status”. This additional status is based on real airline data included within the transmitted “discharge status” but which was previously not analyzed. Global Connect identifies the date and the time within this data and subsequently generates an additional data-set. Forwarders are thus able to monitor shipments and attain complete transport chain documentation.
“Integrated and transparent process documentation is a core customer demand for air freight forwarders. The additional application of Global Connect allows forwarders to monitor data without additional costs and make it easily available to their customers,” explains Johannes Riege, managing director of Riege Software International in Meerbusch, Germany. To improve operations further, it is simple possible to integrate the software into existing transport management structures. Integrated tracking and tracing is therefore no longer a problem for air freight forwarders.
Especially in economically difficult times, it is essential that forwarders gain an important competitive advantage using an efficient software solution. In order to improve the data quality, operate a transparent order management system and increase the efficiency of processes, it pays for air freight forwarders to install an advanced software solution such as Global Connect.
