Missing sea freight tracking data successfully circumnavigated
Meerbusch, Germany – For a long time missing tracking data meant that sea freight shipments effectively disappeared for a week or two once the vessel departed origin port. This radio silence was particularly acute from the importers point of view since it limited reliable planning due to the complete uncertainty about the true position of the freight. Managing the seafreight supply chain has never been smooth and efficient due to this gulf of uncertainty.
Recent cooperation between Riege Software International and Ocean Insights enables Scope, Riege’s innovative Software for logistics, to put an end to missing sea freight tracking events.
Ocean Insights collects shipment tracking data from Ocean carriers and other systems, and this enables them to provide accurate tracking data for shipments.
An interface from Scope now connects to the Ocean Insights container tracking system. This delivers shipment tracking data which import agents may not be able to get from the export agent.
Delays in the ETA, vessel changes and non-notified detentions due to missing information have always been imponderables that have prevented determining the exact status of a shipment, and these are now eliminated. Identification of events by accurate real-time information enables process participants to take action immediately. But even trouble-free transits can be handled more efficiently because reliable pre-arrival-messages confirm conditions to trigger and complete milestones in good time.
Looked at in this light, the docking of Scope in Ocean Insights is also a milestone, optimizing sea freight supply chain management. In future, Scope users plugged in to Ocean Insights will elegantly circumnavigate missing tracking data and deliver reliable planning for sea freight.
